Simon bit back the groan; Mal was good at getting groans from Simon, and not in the good way either. He finally came to, as if he'd actually been only half listening to the captain. A brow raised slightly in that smug superior way that probably should have been decked more than once.
"You came into a hospital and decided to get in a fight? You couldn't think to say that you were here to see a doctor? Or perhaps you were visiting someone?" Simon's lips quirked a little as it seemed amusing to have the captain back to cause trouble. He'd be a good deal happier and amused if Mal would stop mentioning Kaylee.
"Captain, I simply meant that whatever has happened for you, hasn't exactly happened for me. The last adventure I was on had to deal with beagles. River says that was almost a year before her own last experience on the Serenity. And, I don't think you'll have to really hunt her down; apparently, she knows when people are in and out of the City. Which, by the way, you cannot get out of...or at least it isn't something that happens often." Simon was trying to inform Mal completely, or as completely as he knew, and the doctor wasn't sure the captain was ready for all of it.
