"You saw a cabin sitting off behind those trees?" Baba looked at him, her eyes narrowing. The look was definitely one of suspicion, but he could read it as one of a cynical woman or one of a young woman who wasn't sure she should just walk off into a set of trees with a man. "I don't know. Things happen in copses, especially when young women walk off with strangers. Even if they are helpful strangers."
Baba knew about these things. There were stories filled with this sort of thing. A girl who believed she was safe with a handsome man, or one acting as if he would help, a naive girl who just went along as if she could take the man at his word just because he offered to help. Her eyes dropped to his hand.
"I probably shouldn't walk anywhere like a bunch of trees with a stranger." It was almost flirtatious.
