"Wow. 2010." Jennifer was really amazed by that. She tried to imagine London in an England that was it's own country. Not overrun by everything American. Now that she thought about it, she realized that John was speaking with an accent, one that you only saw on really old movies and television where she'd come from.
Everybody in the Federated United States had American accents. Even the different ones from other parts of the country had faded long before she'd been old enough to know there had ever been a thing such as that.
She supposed her brain was just used to that and didn't really notice the accents anymore. She'd have to listen more carefully once she was outside again.
"A detective? I work for CBI here." She thought of Charlie. Yet another person that hadn't entered her brain since she'd been in this place. Really, what kind of drugs were these? "Erm. City Bureau of Investigation. Like the FBI. Only... not." There was no good way to explain it.
"But I'm not sure I understand taking a doctor along on investigations. I apologize for that, I don't mean to insult you or anything."
Jennifer smiled again. "I have to say, John, that your London sounds very nice."
