"Well. It has a name. It's just a generic name. And you might find parts of London here. If it thinks that'll make you more comfortable. I wouldn't be surprised to discover some bridge or even that... clock..." The name of it had slipped her mind. It was something she'd learned about in school. She didn't even know if it was now called something different. But she wouldn't have been surprised. The Burger King Big Clock or some such.
Jennifer sat back down. Finding herself tired, but not in a sleepy way. Her body felt it more than her mind. She wanted out, and when she got out the first thing she was going to do was take a nap. Screw all the rest of it.
"You'll know the locals when you see them. They're like ... cows. They do what they do and they do it blindly. The things that happen in this place don't even faze them. They're like the background for a movie. Extras. The others, those of us who aren't quite content, all of us have been pulled in here for some reason."
London. What a strange thing. She'd met people from many places but it felt weird to her to meet somebody who was from her own planet, yet a different dimension of it. Or at least a different time. Perhaps he was from London before it became a part of the Federated United States.
"The place I'm from, it generally freaks people out when I tell them about it."
