"Hello, Jennifer. I'm John. Ah, John Watson." The fellow smiled back, though his was pleasant and slightly bewildered. He leaned forward to shake the offered hand. "Hopefully they won't keep us waiting for much longer. I'll tell you, this has been one of the strangest experiences, and I've seen some fairly odd things. I'll be glad to put the hospital behind me."
Now that he knew they might be doing a substantial bit of waiting, John found it hard not to twitch. He couldn't sit, so instead he crossed his arms over his chest and settled back on his heels to wait.
"...you might not know the answer to this, but where are we? I asked the nurse, but her reply didn't make any sense and I didn't want her to change her mind about letting me go."
