"Well, that rules out one possibility," Atsuko said as a comment, partly meaning for it to relieve Jennifer in a one-down-a-hundred-to-go manner.
"It's possible that the medications they've given you is too potent for your body to take. It's a good sign, though, that you can talk to me sensibly like this and you understand that there's something about you that you need to remember." Atsuko looked to her as she said, "That's a sign of awareness and alertness."
She cleared her throat and moved a little in her seat so that she could face her new friend better, hands on her lap. "Now, I'm going to try my luck here and ask you a number of questions and hope we get somewhere by doing that. Don't feel compelled to answer them all in one shot. Take your time and meditate on them so you can give me an honest answer." She spoke her words slowly so that her pace suggested the sincerity of her instructions. "Do you remember how you got here? Is there any information you can get from your clothes or your possessions about where you were last or what you were doing? Any physical implications to support it, whatsoever...?" She trailed off, again.
