Well, it certainly didn't take Sam long to wind up that way, complete with confused puppy face and all. For one thing, the smirk on the face of his alleged fiance suggested she was pulling his leg, but for a moment, she sounded utterly serious.
"My..." He racked his brain. She did look strangely familiar. Not that she looked strange. In fact, she was rather pleasant to look at. Sam blinked. She was laughing at him. He gave a nervous chuckle as she allowed that there might be another Sam.
"I've been here before, I gather," he said, gesturing for her to come inside, and sit down, or something. "Were we really...?" He was fairly certain she'd been putting him on, but he just had to ask.
