Jake missed being within range of the Mother Ship, too. But then again, everyone in The City missed someone. It wasn't an easy transition. Jake just had it easier than most though, he imagined. What with being a cat and all. And being a space traveler. He already spent a lot of time alone, studying different galaxies in the universe. Though, if he had the choice, he would have liked to return to Earth. To see Frank again. Frank was a good friend. And his neighbor had a beautiful white Persian. Jake could have made himself a happy life there.
But the universe had different plans.
When the tartar sauce was passed his way, Jake took a bit of fish into his mouth and dunked it into the sauce. Then he licked it up. Tasty! Ooh, a little spicy.
"It's a lot to take in," Jake said as he chewed on the fish, his tongue licking out over his nose now and again. He got a little bit of tartar sauce on his whiskers which he tried to wipe off with his paw. "Just give it some time. Try to stay calm. Make some friends. It gets better. You're not alone. And your friends might show up."
Jake wished some more cats would show up. Alas.
"Mmm. This fish is delicious. Anyone want to try some?"
It was probably rude of him to dig in without asking. But it smelled so good! He couldn't help himself.
"Oooh. Drive plates. Sounds like fun! I'll stop by in a couple of days then, for sure. Once Jennifer is recovered from her flu."
