Anita coughed up a bit of her beer. It definitely did not taste as refreshing the second time around, a part of her brain mildly noted.
The rest of her shouted, "Years? I could be stuck here for years? Well, hell."
She managed not to say that all out loud, though it really was a close call. Hooray, self-control.
"Wow," she finally said, after the coughing subsided. "Years."
Then the rest of his comment finally processed through Anita's brain.
"You left and came back? How did you manage that? Has anyone else left that we know for sure survived or went back to the place they came from rather than just poofing?"
She grabbed him by the shoulders in her excitement.
