Jake walked across the coffee table and then leapt into Charlie's lap. He walked around in a circle a few times, until he found a comfortable position. Then he sat down, semi curled.
"We use Mother as a general term. We do have Mother ships. They act like mothers because they hold so many of us. Take care of us in space, while we're traveling. But there are also real Mothers. Both reproductive and political. You could say ours is a female dominant society."
Which didn't bother Jake any. Nor did it bother any of his male friends and colleagues that he could think of. But it was just a different sort of world.
"Females are important. I am thinking about finding myself one. Have you seen any good looking felines lately?"
