"I see." Charlie found a spot that was far enough away to avoid catching anything without looking too much like that was what he was doing. He opened his sandwich. "Actually, I wouldn't want to impose. Soup and sandwich would be good. Havent' had that in a while. Just thought I'd eat the sandwich. Is it just in the kitchen?"
He wasn't going to take Jen's bowl, at least he wasn't going to eat out of it. He was going to be nice and take the sandwich and soup bowl into the kitchen and fix himself a plate if they didn't mind, or even if they did.
"Must be nice having a cat that can talk. Must be nice to be a cat that can talk." He talked loud enough for the two to hear him as he went into the kitchen to put the bowl ofsoup into the fridge and fix himself a plate and bowl. He even got the cups ready if Jake hadn't.
"Always wondered what cats thought. They probably have different thought processes than dogs, not better just different. Then again, they probably have different ones from humans. It would be interesting to know cat philosophy. Feline zen?" He walked out with a plate containing a bowl of homemade soup and the sandwich as well as a small glass of water.
"Or is it called something else? Do cats need zen?"
