Charlie had lost track of time. It wasn't hard, but it wasn't easy. Losing days usually reminded him of prison, but then the City was a prison, wasn't it? His own mind could easily be a prison, and thus he needed to expand it. He also needed to expand his social interactions; he'd found a few flouncy types who kept him busy at the mansion. He'd found ways to better secure the mansion as well. Harley Quinn's visit had made him very aware of his surroundings and how vulnerable they were, bu he couldn't bring himself to put bars on the windows.
Today, whatever day it was, he'd decided to check on his partner, who'd been out with a cold? He'd brought some very good soup from a local shop along with a sandwich for himself. He'd stopped at a fish market along the way, only in the City could that happen without much detour, and picked up fresh tuna. He could remember that people had pets, sometimes.
So, he soon found himself, relatively soon anyway, at Jennifer's door. He'd never done this for Reese. He'd do it for Ted should Ted need it, but he'd never done this for Reese. Maybe that was why Reese wasn't here; he'd never brought her soup. His knuckles finally knocked on the door as he considered just how important soup could be.
