The breath rushed out of Harl on a low woof of air as she got mashed between a surprisingly large and muscular body (who knew the cop had that hiding under those clothes?) and a somewhat unforgiving wall. Somewhat, because as she hit the smooth surface, she felt part of it crack and give under her shoulder blade. Good thing she wasn’t some wilting flower, or she’d be in real trouble.
Still…
“That’s no way to treat a lady, buster!” she snarled, letting go of the material she was trying to tear through with her teeth. But she didn’t let go of him. Nope. That’d mean he won, and she wasn’t gonna let that happen. Instead, her arms, and especially her legs, tightened around him. Squirming a little, as much as she could anyway, she tried to move her calves from where they were pressed against his ears to where they’d be wrapped around his throat. See how he liked it!
In the middle of her wriggling to get a better grip, through the cop’s legs, she spied bright blue eyes staring at her out of a handsome canine face. “Hiya Blind Seer,” she greeted the animal with a light grunt, knowing that the girl thought she could talk to the wolf. Didn’t hurt to pick up a few brownie points here and there. “Might not be the best place for Firekeeper right now, right? Gimme a minute to sort this out, ‘kay?”
Any further conversation she might have tried to use to assure the girl that she was fine was lost as her body met the wall again. A low growl rumbled out of her throat. Oh man, was she going to have to teach this bozo a lesson about how to treat guests in his home.
But she was going to try to give Firekeeper a chance to leave the area. She didn’t want to scare the wild child away. Rapport between subject and doctor needed to be established as a “safe” place, especially when dealing with something of this nature. And this jerk was on the verge of making her lose that! Harley jerked her foot, trying to kick him in the eye.
