Green steam poured from underfoot as the ship strained. the TARDIS wanted out of this damn City as much as the Doctor did. Still, It could tear itself apart if it continued. The resonant hum of the ships heart filled the air.
A red light blinked incessantly unnoticed on a panel of the control room. Too many other things were happening all at once for the Doctor to see the intruder alarm.
"Is anyone here?" WHAT? How is anyone on the TARDIS? Ace was not on board, and anything short of a Time lord could not even open the front door. The voice did sound more curious and helpful than a Dalek. Oh well, it was not like he had anything more pressing than company.
"That is a good question." The Doctor called out to the distant voice. He considered for a moment. "Follow the noise and through the lab" He paused. "And don't open the red door, It's not fixed yet." It would be rude to have his guest flushed out of the ship.
The Doctor straightened his tie and combed his fingers through his hair. A dial on a pipe containing black liquid shot across the room.
