Guy watched the rest of the movie in a comfortable silence with Allison. He was pleasantly surprised by the fact that he was not feeling anxious or nervous with her. If it had been Marian sitting beside him, he would be busy wondering if she was thinking about him or about Hood. He would be wondering if he would seem to forward if he took Marian’s hand in his.
His new friend, the good doctor was much easier to be around. But she was still a single woman. And he would not take advantage of her kindness be acting in any excessively forward manner. As the movie ended (at least he assumed it ended, it had said ‘The End’ after all), Guy stood up and smiled at his hostess.
“Thank you, Doctor Cameron,” he said, taking her hand and brushing his lips against her knuckles. “This was a very pleasant experience. These movies are… interesting, to say the least. But I should be going now.”
Guy headed to the door, pausing to put his sword back on. He turned back to her and held up the hand that had brought them together. “Thank you for removing that bloody splinter. Perhaps we will run into each other again.”
With a slight bow to her, Guy opened the door and left. In a much better mood than when he had first arrived. He might not mind living here after all.
