Firekeeper sat down in one fluid motion, her back pressed to Blind Seer's still-sitting bulk. He would not sit any time soon, not with the hyenas around. He would make a grand show of his stature and dignity, and once they were out of sight he would relax and go back to the Blind Seer that she knew and loved. She resisted the urge to tweak his tail.
She plucked at a patch of grass and shredded a few blades in her fingers. "No. Not remember," she said, her words coming too quickly and too firmly. "Learn human words from Derian. Friend. First human I meet." Her face lit up as she spoke, and she suddenly missed him terribly. He was surely worried about her. He worried like a mother hen, always fussing around and correcting her grammar. "Very patient. Good with horses. Start with easy words, then more complex. Say I learn quickly." She beamed at Harley, as if expecting confirmation of this.
