"Names mean little if they are not recognized." Baba knew first hand. She was not feared here, and it meant nothing to whisper her name to little children. Well, some might know, but very few would know who she was. Few would know that she was powerful.
"I do not want a position. It means little to me. I was the Adversary's most powerful sorceress and that was not simply a name or title he gave me." She had clawed her way, figuratively and quite literally, to where she was. There were few magical types who could even come close to what she was. Totenkinder was close, but then she'd had ever magical Fable working for her to keep Baba in captivity.
"No, I want access to your power. I want to understand it and be able to use it. This will not come simply because you deem it so. It will come to me by your stepping aside and letting me do as I wish. The seer..." Baba sighed softly. "I would kill her, but it wouldn't be half as amusing as letting her live. She is a victim, of her own making." There was disgust in her voice; the seer had forgotten who and what she was, and Baba's natural inclination to show the lost child back...Well, it was easily overlooked by how rude the seer had been.
"There will be those after me once they discover that she has been captured. it will make life interesting. I may need hurt some of your little captives. You understand this?" She knew actions came with consequences; she wanted the City to say that it will remain outside of this. She hadn't said she'd kill anyone; perhaps she understood that the beings in the City were its own. Perhaps this was all a test of what she was capable of here in the City. Her own little test.
