Baba laughed, truly laughed. Her eyes sparkled with the laughter. How could she not laugh at such a thing? She knew that she'd feel the same way if she were in the City's position, and she'd say more or less the same things. She had been in this position, somewhat, along time ago. Then again, the Adversary had made the same offer, and look what happened to him.
"I make no promises. I am a strange creature, and I might not wish to be your loyal servant one day, even if I have said I would." Though she knew words were strong, and her oath could bind her in someway. Her eyes narrowed slightly; the laughter from only mere moments ago was gone. It seemed the warehouse had lost that small burst of mirth. "I have power already. I am learning about yours; if you killed me...well, you might find that very difficult. If you sent me back, well, I feel change is coming for them, and my lot might not be as bad as you would think. But..."
Baba smiled slightly. "You were wise in choosing the words 'along side' and 'with' - the 'for' poor choice. I have worked for someone, and it did not serve me very well. What can you provide that he could not? He was powerful, and I controlled much. How do you know these people you bring when you so desire will not rise up like the rebels, how do you know they will not find you, the heart of you, and slay you like the monster they see you to be?"
