Okay, now Harley was getting confused. Because that’s not how the con was played. Right now, she ought to be telling her how it was all just a test to see if Harley felt the same for her because her feelings were just that strong, or something along those lines. You played the mark, you didn’t go and be honest.
Because that’s what it sounded like. Honesty. Harley knew lies inside and out, and she knew what made people be deceitful. So she wasn’t the best student, she still had a doctorate saying she could treat people’s brains, she did pick a few things up. And this whole scenario just wasn’t adding up right. It made her a bit cranky.
She took three steps backwards, without dropping the gun barrel an inch. She might be confused, but she wasn’t stupid. “So what you’re saying is you didn’t want to lead me on.”
Which sounded really noble. Except for one thing. “After you let me kiss you and touch you and teach you to shoot. You wanted all that, you wanted to do that with me, and then you just… stopped. Like the snap of your fingers. That about sum things up?”
Hearing it spoken just reinforced how crappy it made her feel, and her voice rose in irritation. “Tell me again how that’s not being a tease!”
Not that she was brokenhearted or anything. Her Puddin’ was the only one for her. But it was a real kick in the teeth that the first girl she kissed turned out to be like this. “I let you touch my gun!”
