Baba's hand lifted to motion at the blood; the action wasn't so much to belittle what they'd just enjoyed, but to say that this was simply a toe dipped in a much larger pool.
"It was not human; it was a thing. You should start with what you know, always start with what you know." Her free hand lifted, and she licked at the blood there on her fingers, again. Her nose wrinkled a little at it. "Too sweet, it's much too sweet."
"The City will be quite an interesting being to talk to." Baba stepped closer to look at him, her brow raised. "Not sure I know it any better than you do; you have never had the possibilities I have. I simply know how the great powers can play at controlling what they believe is under them. They don't understand their little experiments half as well as they believe, and they never control them as they want."
