"No." Dexter shook his head. "My father realized what I was and taught me how to get away with things. He taught me to clean up after myself. He figured that if I had the impulse, it might as well be put to some good use. He invented The Code. People who hurt kids. Rapists. Other killers. Those are the ones I choose. My job makes it easy for me to pick them out. See their files. Have proof of what they've done. Harry said that if I picked out the ones who society didn't like, then I would have less of a chance getting caught."
He gave a little shrug. "Makes life easier for me. Harder in some ways. But I haven't been caught."
Dexter pointed ahead. "My apartment is down that street. Not much further."
