The City was not turning out to be as much fun as Ace thought it was going to be. Sure, there were fewer rules she had to worry about. But every time she ran into a group of people, there was always someone there that thought they knew better than she did. As if those stupid toe-rags had seen half the things she had. She’d love to see what some of them would do up against a Dalek or even a cyberman. Or the wolves of Fenris.
The memories of kicking the butts of those badasses made Ace smile. Those were the good days. Damn, how she missed them. She missed the Doctor. She was beginning to think the singing dork she met when she got here wasn’t really the Professor. If he had been, he would have been back for her by now.
She wandered around feeling lonely and bored. She couldn’t believe her luck when she saw the TARDIS parked in the park. Finally! She found her home. She got a firm grip on her backpack and ran over to the big blue box.
“Professor!” Ace banged on the door with one hand while she searched her pockets for the key with the other. “Doctor, it’s me! Open the bloody door!”
