"I don't usually show them, but some people who would know said that no one in the City would care." Raven exhaled through her nose and pushed the shaky smile back onto her face. "I guess this is a sort of test? And so far they've been right; no panic. Maybe a few glances." The smile grew stronger, less uncertain. "One little boy asked me if I was an elf."
Raven didn't say what she'd told the little boy, because really? She'd lied. 'Yes,' she'd said, 'I'm an elf.'
"...we probably don't have similar backgrounds," Raven agreed. "And to know for sure I'd have to offend you, and you've been really nice to a newcomer to the City, so I'd really rather not. But trust me - not having my background is not a bad thing."
