Her head tilted at the question, partially facing him. Her brows lifted above the glasses, then lowered. She smiled softly, understanding.
"Some must be told what they want to hear. Others, others who truly want guidance not ready-made answers, will listen to the paths set out before them; they will see that it is not the future that is being read, but the path or paths they are on is being described. It is up to each person to decide if he..or she..wants to stay on the path. I am but a guide." Her smile saddened, and before it could turn into a scowl, she looked away to find the tea, opening a cabinet and feeling inside.
"I'm afraid my new assistant has put away the tea in some new place. I do not wish to impose, but..could you help me?" Her voice was softer, not weaker, but certainly softer. She was taking a risk by having him behind the counter, allowing him to look in the cabinets, but she had ulterior motives. What witch truly didn't have some ulterior motive when she asked for help?
