With a quick glance to the door to assure himself his weapons were at least accounted for, he turned back to her. He needn't explain to her that he hadn't left, as that was more than obvious to both of them. "Is that what you were.. " He gestured to the doorframe which had bore the brunt of her frustration at his apparent disappearance. But she didn't allow him the chance to elaborate before she segued to the offer of tea.
"No, it wasn't that. I hadn't thought sleep would find me, so I never properly sought out their comfort." The fireplace, the window, outside her door, it had been a cycle of pausing to think in those places before he'd fallen asleep during the latter. He found himself defending himself more than usual. Was it to appease her, yes. But it wasn't meant in a belittling fashion. He'd wounded her last night, or at least reopened old wounds and he did not wish to push further.
"No need to apologize. You've said nothing unfortunate." His hand moved over his chin, scritching lightly at his beard. A mild yawn escaped him and his palm then moved to cover it. Morning rituals sated for the time being, he returned his attention fully to her. "What fault there is lies with me. Seeing you here.. I lost sight of better judgement. I said too much, too quickly. It wasn't fair."
