It felt bizarre to speak it aloud. The job had never worked like that with Rube, they weren't to tell anyone who or what they did. They were to just move about and do their job, no personal attachments to the mortals around them.
Now she was forced to make an emotional attachment and while that was alright, it was a foreign way of doing things but not an unwelcome change.
It wasn't at all surprising that George had made a bad first impression. She'd done the same with Betty initially. The kid had been foul mouthed, headstrong and intent on doing things the way she wanted without thought to how they were supposed to be done. No matter that in the end, Betty had done much the same.
