Back again (Willow)
Dexter remembered very clearly that she'd said to not come back. But he'd told her that if he ever figured out how to fix himself, he'd bring the knife back for safe keeping. Clearly she'd thought that would never happen.

Wasn't she ever going to be surprised.

He'd wrapped the thing up inside of it's sheath in a towel. He hadn't wanted to touch it ever again, lest he be tempted by it. The book was with him as well. If he didn't have the knife, he didn't need the book. And he needed no reminders of either.

Very carefully, Dexter walked into the store, trying to be as nonthreatening as possible.

"Hello?"

Willow pulled merchandise from the back room when she heard the chime of the front door. She took a box up with her and was all smiles until she saw who it was. The friendliness quickly went away.

"You need to leave."

She placed her box on the counter that was formerly a bar. Willow couldn't take her eyes off the former customer. Magic Box owners had a habit of dying young and though normally one could point the finger at a vampire, it could just as easily be someone who perverted necromancy.

"I'm pretty sure I told you not to come back."

"You did." Dexter held up both hands in surrender. "You're right. But I needed to bring this back to you."

He eased into the shop just enough to be able to close the door, and then held out the wrapped up knife for Willow to take.

"I brought it all back. The knife, the book. Just put it somewhere nobody else can get to it. I don't think I can trust myself with it. You're the best for the job. So here."

His hand was held out with everything just piled up together. He urged her to take it with a little motion forward.

The longer he stayed the angrier Willow became. In a way, he was doing the right thing, coming to a witch for help in his magical addiction. But the redhead, who's hair began to bleed color until it was black, had difficulty restraining her wrath.

He reminded her too much of her past crimes. If Willow needed to be punished, which she certainly hadn't been, then the same went for Dexter.

Black veins, black eyes, black hair-- The City had wanted this Willow all along. Using telekinetic force, Willow lifted the blood splatter analysis off his feet and threw him into a wall.

"You don't think you can trust yourself with it?" The look on her face was a mockery of sympathy. "The urge to kill teenaged girls too strong? Why don't you introduce me?"

The knife, despite being wrapped, began to emit a powerful glow from every available crease. From the blade's memory, a girl walked into view as if she'd just been out of their peripheral vision but in the room the entire time.

Brigitte, or the knife's memory of her, waved.

"Hi."

This version of her wasn't deformed. She looked human. Blood dripped from her eyes though she was able to see. She wore a white dress.

"I'm Brigitte."

She pointed a finger at Dexter.

"He killed me."

Her arm returned to her side and though she didn't smile, she looked content. "Thank you."

It was not the sort of reunion that the witch had planned on. The shock was obvious on her face and she continued to watch. The figment of the deceased walked toward Dexter and crouched next to him.

"I was changing into a monster, but you stopped that even when I couldn't."

Then, she leaned in toward Dexter's ear and whispered.

Dexter's hand had clutched onto the knife and the book as he'd been thrown, he found that now that he was on the ground he still had it.

"Maybe I should have mailed it." He pulled himself up and looked at the girl. If there had been any doubt in his head that she was a witch previously, and there hadn't been, it was all gone now.

It still didn't help the shock of seeing the girl he'd killed. The innocent one. The one who had brought him back to Willow. Of course, he hadn't forgotten that she'd wanted to die, that she'd gone easily and even just agreeing simply with what he'd said.

The entire thing was stunning now that he wasn't encapsulated in the knife's power. She really had wanted to die. The things that he'd seen in her had been real. She had been turning into some kind of beast before he had ended her life.

Dexter froze as the ghost, figment, whatever she was, leaned close. He had no idea what was going on.

Willow watched the memory of a girl give Dexter a secret. It was difficult to gage where the secret came from and therefore could be about anything. Most likely the secret came from the knife itself. The witch did not try to listen, in part because she wasn't sure she wanted to know.

She dismissed Brigitte shortly afterward.

Calming, her hair slowly began to fade into red again. Her stare was still emotionless and cold. It would not be a stretch to say that Dexter had caught a very literal glimpse of Willow's own dark passenger.

"Get out."

Luckily, Willow hadn't prodded the knife or Dexter's mind for any other crimes. She only knew about Brigitte because Dexter had told her. If she'd discovered his other victims, their second meeting would have turned in a completely different direction.

"Yeah. No problem."

He hadn't expected to hear what he did from the girl ghost. It was freaking him out more than just a little bit.

Dexter pushed the knife and the book toward Willow, then pulled himself off of the floor. There was no smile given to the witch, not even a second look back.

He'd wanted to ask her about George, but it seemed like a very bad idea.

The door swung shut after him.
