Harvey Dent began to wonder if perhaps he was going overboard in preparation for this case. He knew Murdock was a great defense lawyer - he'd sat in on portions of the attorney's cases since being instated as DA - but was it really necessary to go to such lengths? He had contacted no less than four doctors, collected mountains of physical and photographic evidence, expected to call on the testimony of everyone from the arresting officer to the asylum janitor, and he had constructed opening and closing statements that would make Inherit the Wind look like schoolyard namecalling.
To be fair, he couldn't remember the last time he'd had a really juicy case like this. He was so excited he hadn't slept in a couple of days, and had only showered once in the interim. Maybe he was making up for losing that CX debate in the final round at the High School National Championships. That smug little jackass ... he could just rip that kid's eyes out ... cut off his nose ... bite his fingers off one at a ...
Focus, Harv.
He walked briskly down the hall to the meeting room at City Hall to prepare for his guests. One last big meeting with his team before the trial.

Terry was enjoying the free coffee. He'd been struggling to catch up on school work, and had missed out on a lot of sleep lately, not to mention socializing.
"Hi, Mr. Dent," he greeted. "Is it just me, today?"

"No," Harvey replied, parking the wheeled box containing the case. "You're actually early ... for once.
"The full party should also include Ms. Gibbons, Dr. Strange, and officer Pezzini. They should be along shortly."
He pulled out his notepad and began scribbling something.

"Totally not a party, Mr. Dent." Thank God Terry was here, because Max was walking into this deposition alone. Without Babs. She couldn't go that day, but apparently that had been no excuse for Max to get out of it. "More like my very own personal wake."
The faster this was over with the better. At least she'd known Mr. Murdock, and while she knew Mr. Dent, she also knew a lot of other information about Mr. Dent. Like his super villianous extra curricular activities back in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. She was just a little nervous.

"Ah, Miss Gibson. Have a seat. Help yourself to some government-funded coffee."
He only glanced at her briefly, continuing to scribble, and started into what apppeared to be an uncomfortable discussion.
"You ... might want to consider changing the color of your hair. Something more natural. One of the elements we have on our side is the accused's unnatural coloration."
He looked at her now, making a show of the honesty in his eyes. "We won't bring it up, of course, but it will be plain for the jury to see. If you, a victim of his crimes, appear to be an ordinary girl beset by some monster, it will play to the juries' sympathies and give us a better chance of putting Mr. Napier away more permanently. I hope you understand."

That was not the best way to start off the conversation. Max immediatelly latched two fingers onto her hair and started twirling. She'd started to break the habit because she knew what it did to Jesse, but now she couldn't help it.
"Dye my hair back? I can be normal and ordinary and have pink hair," she said, biting on her lip, looking at Terry to see if he agreed with the man.
Max twirled her hair again, looking at the pink strands. She'd just redyed it and she knew it shouldn't be such a big deal, but it just made her uneasy.

"The police don't really take too well to kids with dyed hair," came a voice from the door. Following that light introduction was Detective Pezzini, arms folded under her chest. She wore a black dress suit and pumps, actually looking presentable for once. Sara figured she might as well make a good impression.
"Especially teenagers," she added, moving to the center of the room so she might be a part of the action. "I'm sure the lawyers and, well, everyone else will try and pick on you for it. My suggestion is to leave that teenager stereotype at the door. Only creates more trouble than we need."
She let her lips quirk up in a half-smile to Harvey, arms unfolding and hands planting on her waist. "We ready?" she asked, looking around.

Harvey stopped scribbling for a moment to covertly admire the waist Sara had planted her hands on. "We'll wait a bit to see if Dr. Strange makes an appearance," he responded. Looking around the room, he continued, "in the meantime, do you have any questions about the procedure, the case, anything?"

"Yeah," Terry piped up indignantly. "Why does she have to change her hair? We're supposed to be presenting the truth, right? Well, the truth is, Max likes to have pink hair."
