i_amsofired Meanwhile, back at the batcave...
Once more this evening Terry slammed the controls of the Batmobile. He had attempted to enter the Batcave by way of the cliff face that the jet used to use, but the door wasn't responding to the code he was sending. The flying vehicle stopped just short of the metal doors camouflaged in paint. "Slag it!" Terry grunted. "Um, guys? Could you let me in?" he asked over the comlink to the cave. "It's Terry. Didn't Commish-... Bar-... uh, Oracle tell you I was coming?"
"Yes, and yes, though I assumed you'd be able to manage that on your own," Dick replied. He had his feet kicked up on the edge of the wide array of various computer-type gadgets and keys and buttons and things that at one point had completely baffled him. He'd never liked having to hang around here much anyways.
He leaned over without having to adjust his 'lazyman' pose too much, and punched in the code to open the doors.

"Sorry. Guess I'm not Computer Guy," said Terry. He proceeded to drive into the cave and landed the vehicle in what seemed like a convenient spot. Hopping out of the cab, he saw Dick at the big computer. He suddenly felt intimidated. Terry was just a kid, really, and had only been at the superhero business for a year or so. This guy had been at it for, what, fifteen years now? "Hi," he said in an unassuming way. "I'm Terry. You must be Nightwing."
Dick eyed the boy for a moment - relatively speaking, he was a boy, even though Dick himself couldn't have been that much older than him. Then he dropped his feet down off of the desk.
It amused him to be introduced to a peer (was that the right word? Terry certainly wasn't his sidekick) as a codename.
"Dick Grayson," he confirmed, and stood up to hold out a hand to Terry. "You going by Batman here? Or just 'Terry.'"

"I guess it's Terry. I kinda get the feeling Mr. Wayne wouldn't appreciate me showing up with the same name. Maybe I should work on a code name, though." Terry thought on this, eventually testing, "Bat-boy?"
Dick took a moment to work out if it was actually a serious suggestion, decided that he didn't know the kid well enough to treat it as a joke, and went with the safer decision to treat it with all the gravity it deserved.
"Well, it's not taken so far." But there was probably something better out there.

Apparently Bruce had trained Dick so thoroughly as to completely remove his sense of humor. Either that, or Terry's banter needed a tune-up. "How about Teenbat? Batdark. Flapnight." Realizing he was getting dangerously close to saying "Nightwing," he stopped. "Well, while I come up with a better name, I think I'll have a look around, see who else is here."
"There's always... Guano," Dick suggested. He did too have a sense of humor, as idiotic as it be, but Terry wasn't Tim, and he had been trying to make a good impression. Terry's possible names were just too ridiculous to not add on to, though.
"Go ahead. Just don't poke anything that looks like it might make something else explode. And don't argue with Alfred if he tries to feed you."
