i_wantyouwant At the heart of things (Open to mystery sibling)
Desire lounged in the heart of the Threshold. Not an uncommon act. Not strange in any way. But today was the first true day Desire was going to have in this new place called The City. And she was trying to decide what to do with it. There were so may oppertunities. But maybe exploration should be the first step?
He sighed. A cigarette hung gracefully inbetween two of her fingers, a constant accessory. Never go anywhere without it. What she really wanted was somebody to play with. Delirium was here, and she was always good for amusement, but no, what Desire wanted was one of those fun little mortals.
Another sigh. But which one? They all looked like so much fun. She'd been watching them ever since his arrival. Watching. Waiting. Culling out the ones that looked like they wouldn't be so much fun. But there was still such a list of potential playthings. How was one supposed to choose?
So. She was lounging. It was the best second choice that he could come up with. Lounge and then choose. Or lounge, and then go have a drink, and then choose. Or add a nap in there somewhere.
What a pain.

Of course he had seen the Threshold appear in the night. The portrait in his gallery had confirmed things. Desire was here.
Pieces were drawing together, and he could not seem to grasp the pattern. But there were dreams beneath those of the dreamers - dreams of something else, and those dreams needed to be explored.
But for now, there was family to consider.
The glass heart was cold in his hands. "Desire? I stand in my Gallery, and I hold your Sigil. Talk to me."

Oh poo.
Eyes were rolled and Desire stood. Soon, she appeared in front of Dream, taking a stance of annoyance.
"What."
This was not the sibling he'd hoped would require a meeting first, but she supposed it had been silly to hope for that.

His eyes flickered over his sibling, registering no emotion at the annoyance clearly marked on Desire's face. "I'm coming through," he said, the portrait frame expanding to obey his request -- if it could be called that.

"Well fine, do what you want. You don't have to be all dramatic about it." He puffed the cigarette.
"And I suppose you'll want me to look more like you want me to. Well fine on that too."
Desire's hair blackened, and her eyes became the strange golden color. He rather liked the red hair, though, and was irritated more of having to abandon it briefly.

He stepped through the portait. "My sibling, I require nothing from you, save some answers. Your appearance has no bearing on that."
He crossed his arms, looking out from the heart of the Threshold, over the City. "What do you imagine you are doing here?"

Desire tilted his head. "I don't know what I'm doing here. I just arrived. Why should I know? What are you doing here?"
She turned away and swaggered over to the chaise lounge that he favored over other places to sit and draped herself over it.
"But I'm here, and that's all that matters. Time for some fun, I suppose."

"I am performing my appointed task. I am not parading myself before the mortals of this City, and I am certainly not contemplating how to amuse myself at their cost."
He turned to face his sibling. "What are your intentions?"

"I haven't decided yet." Desire made a pouty face. "I've not done any parading yet, that's not fair."
His legs crossed demurely. "All I've done is show up. It's not my fault that the Threshold ended up where it did. Not like I decided where it was going. Besides." She puffed the cigarette. "What do I care if they see me or not? They already know they want me."

Morpheus didn't believe that. Even if his sister-brother did, he knew that the wills of the Endless controlled their realms. Their realms were their wills, made tangible.
"I have told you before, sister-brother, and I entreat you to listen to me this time. We of the Endless are the servants of the living. We exist because they know, deep in their hearts, that we exist. Thus our existence and our power is not to be flaunted at them. And we do not manipulate them." He turned away briefly to indicate the City at large. "If anything, they manipulate us."

"You've never been any fun."
Desire rolled on the chaise. "You should learn to have fun, Brother. Or you'll wither away into a puddle of boring. This is a whole new place. A whole new set of rules. I'm here for a reason, and who is to say that reason isn't to do what I want to do with the little fleshbags? Hmm?"
He yawned. "Boring. Go pester somebody else. Shoo."

Dream smiled then, but the smile didn't seem to be a kind one. "You have been warned, Desire. Rules such as those that govern our blood are as unchanging as we."
The smile faded from his lips, and he looked down at his sibling. "I will not come to your aid should you bring the attention of the Furies. Remember that you have been warned."

"Furies, blah." Desire motioned with her hand. "I've been warned, whatever. So dramatic! And you all say I'm the reigning Drama Heir. Should look in the mirror occasionally, really."
He stood again, took a few steps toward Dream. "Please stop infesting my wonderful home with your lack of humor."

Dream arched a brow, but bowed. "As you wish." After all, if he did not respect his siblings in their realms, he couldn't expect them to respect him in his own.
Besides. Desire had said 'please'.
Dream felt had done enough. The Furies were none to be trifled with, but if his sibling insisted on these shenanegans, well, Dream had done his part by warning Desire.
He faded from the Threshold, returning to the Dreaming with ease.
