i_turngreen And when you awake (attn Kyle)
Setting: Kyle's apartment
Summary: Anyone else ever wake up after a great date to find the guy awol?
"I love you, Jennie. Always have, on some level. It's just grown into something much deeper than I could ever imagine. Especially lately."
The words rang in her ears. Jennie smiled as she lingered between sleep and awake, still reliving the
night before. Kyle had asked her to dinner. They were friends, so dinner wasn't something so unusual. But
something about this time had felt different.
She remembered taking longer to get ready then she ever had. She had selected an emerald green silk
halter dress that brought out her eyes, and fell in soft tiers just below her knees.
Of course, after the confession of feelings, there had been that kiss. And then more to follow. They'd
eventually ended up at Kyle's apartment. Sure, it was fast. But at the same time, it wasn't, given that the two had been friends for nearly two years now. If anything, it felt like this had been long overdue.
In fact, as she started to finally gain consciousness, she wondered just how she had managed for so long
without falling asleep in Kyle's arms.
Arms which were now nowhere to be felt...
Hm. She frowned, sitting up in bed.
"Kyle?" she called out.
"Don't you know it's rude to sleep with someone on the first date and be gone before she wakes up?" she
called teasingly, wrapping the sheets around herself and moving through the apartment in search of him.

Weren't you supposed to stop dreaming once you woke up? Kyle thought that was how it was supposed to work.
Except that theory did nothing to explain why there was a female voice calling his name in his apartment. She sounded kind of hot too.
Definitely dreaming.
Kyle shook his head. Obviously he needed more sleep and less late nights out with the ring. It was starting to make him delusional. In fact, he'd go back to bed now and he'd take his Frosted Flakes and sketch pad with him.
After putting the milk away, Kyle headed out of the kitchen with the intention of doing just that. Getting right back into bed, eating, and starting on his next assignment for the paper. Something about needing a new advertisement piece.
There was just a slight kink in his plan though. A green kink. A short, but leggy, green kink. And pretty. And... wrapped in a sheet. Kyle had to look down at his ring to make sure it wasn't glowing and that he hadn't created said kink.
Apparently, he hadn't. Cue the staring and dropping of the cereal bowl. "J-Jennie?"

Almost on impulse, Jennie pointed and a green light shot out from her finger, a glowing net catching the bowl before it could hit the carpet and do any damage. She very slowly raised the bowl up, setting it on the nightstand next to the bed before turning her attention to the man who was supposed to have been there when she woke up, her green eyes flickering with a mixture of anger and hurt that he thought this was a time for joking.
"Very funny, Kyle. I would hope last night wasn't that forgettable," Jennie said, standing up and walking towards him. But she stopped just a foot away, something about his eyes... He didn't appear to be joking.
But... that didn't make any sense. After all, last night hadn't been a dream-she'd woken up in his bed. But the way he was looking at her this morning was devoid of all the emotions she'd seen in his eyes the night before. In fact, it was devoid of everything except utter confusion, she realized with a jolt.

"Oh believe me. I wouldn't have forgotten what I think you think happened last night," Kyle said, trying to pull his eyes away from her so that it didn't look like he was obviously staring. This was Alan's daughter. One did not stare at a fellow Green Lantern's practically naked daughter.
It had to be in the code somewhere.
"Um." Kyle tossed his sketchpad down onto the bed. "Maybe... listen, I think I know what's going on here. How about you, uh... clothes. Clothes would be good. Then I'll explain."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 18:19:35
"What I think happened?" Jennie flushed angrily. "I'm not delusional, Kyle. I would think you would know that by now."
Still clutching the sheet around her, her cheeks now burning with humiliation, her eyes swept the floor for her dress, which seemed to be nowhere to be seen, maddeningly enough.
"Forget it. Just forget the whole thing," she muttered, still fumbling for the now completely absent dress. "And what did you do with my dress anyway?" she said angrily, then shook her head, finding a button down shirt that would be long enough to wear home at least. Dropping the sheet, she pulled the shirt on, borrowing a nearby belt as well, creating a sort of dress out of the shirt, as though both pieces belonged to her. She'd be damned if she was going to hunt for her dress while he stood there, accusing her of imagining things.
That done, she turned to face him, her jaw set stubbornly. Without another word, she brushed past him, heading towards the door.

Kyle barely had time to turn, but on instinct his ring hand flew up and a green wall was set securely in the door frame. It wasn't the action he'd normaly have taken, but desperate times...
"Jennie, you can't just go running out there." And it had nothing to do with the fact that she was still kind of half naked even with the shirt. "That's not New York. And I am definitely not the guy you slept with last night. Alan would shoot me in the head, and I'm real fond of my head."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 18:35:59
She stopped short as she found herself face to face with the green wall. Eyes flashing angrily as she felt her skin turning color, the adrenaline kicking in, she turned to face him again. But before she reacted with a burst of her own powers, she stopped herself, the color slowly draining from her face and skin as she studied him.
"What are you talking about? This is your apartment. Last I checked, your apartment is in New York." she glared at him. "You are right about one thing, however-You're not the man that I slept with last night."
From: [info]i_imagine Date: 01/29/2006 18:43:42
Well, good. At least they'd gotten that detail established. Because Kyle was pretty damned sure he would remember a night like that.
"Look out the window Jennie." Kyle gestured towards the back of his bed room with his other hand. "That is not New York."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 18:52:02
She stepped towards the window, humoring him by looking out. Skyscrapers-slightly blurred city line.
"Looks like New York to-" she cut off as her eyes fell on a set of unfamiliar buildings.
"What the..." she turned towards Kyle, her senses on full alert now. She couldn't yet bring herself to attack him, but she was more than prepared to, should he turn out to be a threat. "Okay. I'm only going to ask you once and if you know anything, you'll know better than to underestimate me or my ability to defend myself. I need to know who the hell you are, where you've brought me, and what you've done with the real Kyle. And for your sake, I'm hoping your answer involves Kyle being safe."
From: [info]i_imagine Date: 01/29/2006 19:16:06
"I am Kyle." He held his ring hand up, showing her the ring sitting on his finger, as if that explained everything. "But, uh, call it a hunch... I don't think I'm the Kyle you know. That tends to happen here."
He pointed out the window, hoping that the distinct lack of a Chrysler and Empire State Building would be obvious. "And that's not the New York you know. Or not all of it. There's some sort of... alternate dimension thing going on here."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 19:29:29
"Alternate dimension?" Jennie repeated slowly. Well, she supposed it was possible. She'd certainly heard stories of occurences like this. Generally, once someone was sucked into one of these, they usually found their way out fairly quickly. Or at least, those who had lived to tell the tale.
"Okay," she repeated, stepping sideways and lowering herself into his small blue-green arm chair, silently pondering on the fact that his bedroom was exactly the same, despite the fact that he was not the same Kyle and this was not New York. It just... didn't make any sense. She studied the chair itself, a finger lightly tracing the coffee stain the graced the right arm of the chair. She knew that stain. The other Kyle had the exact same stain on the exact same chair. Or, well... she just didn't know.
"Say you're telling the truth. You're not the same Kyle, but you still know me-or some sort of version of me. How did we meet?"
From: [info]i_imagine Date: 01/29/2006 19:50:21
She was the one who'd shown up naked in his apartment and he was getting the third degree? Kyle sighed. "Your dad introduced us maybe... a year and half back. I'd just gotten the ring, remember? Me, the cute fresh-faced starving artist just out of college?" He smirked slightly, dispite the situation.
"I didn't actually think I was going to get a date out of that meeting, but I guess I was wrong there..." He glanced over at her. "Um, how old was I? The one who you... yeah."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 20:00:55
"I remember," Jennie said, smiling in spite of herself. "It was my first trip to the city, and Dad thought we'd get along. Of course, you barely paid attention to me, as you were very busy kissing up to my Dad." she said with a smirk.
"And the Kyle I knew was twenty-five. It took you-er, him-two years to get a date, and it definitely wasn't because I was impressed with our fist meeting." The faintest hint of a teasing smile played at the corner of her lips, alluding to the playful banter that the two had often enjoyed over the last two years while their friendship had developed.
From: [info]i_imagine Date: 01/29/2006 20:19:18
"Two years?" Huh, it had taken that long? A little slow there. Just a bit. And had he really paid that little attention to her the first meeting? Well... if he thought back honestly, that was kind of the truth. "Er... sorry about that."
Kyle moved back towards the windows, closing the shades now that Jennie had seen everything. She was half naked, and Kyle figured the shades should probably be drawn. "I've gotta say, this is one of the more awkward ways I've heard about someone getting pulled in her. I woke up here, alone though. My friend Conor, he just sort of got pulled in while he was walking, I think..."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/29/2006 20:29:01
"Well, you're not wrong about it being awkward." Jennie murmured under her breath, self consciously tugging at the bottom edge of the shirt, now feeling just a bit self-conscious, knowing that this Kyle had yet to see her naked. Or well, should have, at least. But... it didn't quite make sense that they would be pulled from the same universe, different times... did it?
Of course, if one was thinking logically, none of this made sense, really. And Jennie was more than a little bit frustrated here. This definitely wasn't the way the morning after a date like that should have gone, that was for sure.
"So... how long have you been here? And how old are you?" she asked him, still attempting to gain her bearings here, while mentally going through the steps she was going to take to find a way out of here, as quickly as possible.
From: [info]i_imagine Date: 01/30/2006 16:46:41
"Uh, a few weeks now. Three or four. I haven't really been keeping count, because it doesn't seem like we're getting out anytime soon." He frowned slightly at that, because as pessimistic as it sounded, it was pretty much true. "I'm twenty-three... so, definitely younger. Yeah. Got pulled in here some time in March my time. But it's January here."
From: [info]i_turngreen Date: 01/31/2006 15:43:28
"My Kyle wouldn't have given up so soon," Jennie heard herself saying without thought. She stopped, biting her lip and looking up at him. For just a second, she studied this Kyle. Oh how he looked like the Kyle she had expected to wake up next to, but the way he looked at her and reacted to her was entirely different.
She had only just begun to really notice the way he'd been looking at her, but already she missed it.
"I'm sorry," she apologized, coloring slightly. "I don't mean my Kyle, and I didn't mean that you're... well." she bit her lip and then looked at him resolutely. "So. You mentioned Connor? As in Hawke? Is anyone else I might know here?"
