An author said, all those who wander are not always lost.
For Ted, however, this was not true. Rather, he was lost and uncertain. He had always thought fantasy fiction in general was less than appealing to him. As a requisite of his youth, he attempted to read Lord of the Rings at the tender age of 12 and dropped it in favor of a science magazine he found while waiting for the doctor. And that brought a new world of possibilities.
He wasn't finding much, to use with those possibilities with. The section of the city he was in did house random items, some of which did pique his interest, but not enough to be useful. He'd have to find lighter fuel, among other things, to make something serviceable. He also found that traveling in a blue costume was not ideal for him, as earlier stated by the 'gentleman' he had words with. "Point of view Ted, point of view..." Blue Beetle grumbled to himself, long since pulling the goggles and cowl over is head.
He was avoiding logics on his existence, why he was still breathing, why he was still walking. And trying to find some means to get shelter or a clean set of clothing provided suitable distraction.

Darien had been tempted to hide in his apartment and wait for the strangeness to go away, but in the end, he had been incapable of doing something so passive. He had thought that maybe he could get in contact with someone to help him out of this mess. It wasn't a very realistic goal, but it was the best he had right now.
So, he had gone walking. He had tried to keep track of where his street was supposed to be, but the City had shifted, and looking at a different street than what used to be there had been pretty unsettling. Unable to go back, he had kept going on his way, praying that navigating this place wouldn't be like walking around in an Escher painting.
When he caught sight of someone else on the same stretch of sidewalk, he slowed his pace to get a better look. The other guy was wearing blue, a whole lot of it, and.. what were those yellow things? "Is that spandex?," Darien asked in a disbelieving tone.
This had actually happened to Ted more than once when his early crime-fighting career began. His jaw tightened and if he hadn’t just dealt with the very same subject just a while ago, Beetle might have been nicer about it in tone. “Yeah, it’s a lyrca very close to supplex I made up a few years back. However I can’t sue the hell out of Invista.” He almost sounded a little wistful.

Supplex? Invista? If anything, the unfamiliar words just validated the other man's claim. Darien raised his hands helplessly, "Sorry, about half of that's greek to me." He didn't want to say anymore, as he sounded annoyed, but Darien couldn't help but think, Richard Simmons must love this guy.
"So... you going to a costume party? Or have a hot date at the gym?"
“Supplex is a type of spandex as is lyrca. Invista is a fiber company.” Beetle responded his stomach churning a bit. He had to cool down, stress wasn’t good for his heart and this was the first person who he’d talked to besides the last guy. “I’m-“ He hesitated for a second when the guy asked about a hot date in the gym.
“Does it even look like I spend all that much time in a gym?” Ted asked straight-faced, he really didn’t spend time in a gym but did have routines involving gymnastics, and still touchy about his weight. He really didn’t catch any intended innuendo. “I was going to… to… a costume party.”
He wasn’t in Kansas anymore, he knew saying you’re a super hero wasn’t the smartest thing to do. And he wasn’t a super hero, just a regular crime fighter. Even that sounded insanely innate. “I got… snatched up here and brought to here, while heading to the party. You’re not a resident, are you?”

Darien looked him over, then shrugged, "I've seen worse." After all, he worked for 'worse'. He didn't want to think about whether he meant it in the past tense or the present tense.
But, the costume thing, it wasn't hard to tell that it probably wasn't the complete truth. He had too much familiarity with lying to just ignore it. Darien wasn't going to bother with arguing about it, though - he honestly couldn't think of any nefarious reasons for wearing something like that. Maybe the guy was just embarrassed.
"Uhm.. no, actually, I showed up here a few hours ago." He laughed mirthlessly, "Snatched. That's a really good way to put it."
The fact Ted was a horrible lair might have helped Darien out quite a bit. “Yeah, the least the spandex could have been like, shiny gold or something.” He agreed before glancing about.
“I think I’ve been here about the same amount of time.” He really didn’t have too much to hide, and he could gage the other man better if seemed more ‘normal’. Like a guy running around in blue supplex was ‘normal’, even for a costume party. “Ted Kord,” He said politely, pulling off his cowl and goggles. "Yeah, stupid time for introductions, but speaking to someone not insulting my luck is helping the stress levels."
