A female dog and a donkey go into a bar... Who: Landon and Cayden What: First Meeting (AIM Scene continued as thread) Where: Outside the Gardens Bakery and Deli When: Right in the middle of his breakfast with Trista Why: Because it sounded fun? Status: Incomplete Rating: PG-13 for language Open/Closed: Closed
Cayden Hughes: Cayden's four month old daughter, Grace Ann was sitting in her lap, gnawing on her mother's hand while Cayden used the other to drink her herbal tea. She barely noticed the people coming and going, her mind on Gracie's father and how she loathed him right now. He was insufferable and the fact that she'd move from New York so that he could be around her daughter made her loathe him anymore. Shaking her head, she raised a brow at the goings ons at the register. The way some people were and it wasn't even noon. Huffing, Cayden rolled her eyes and did her best to ignore the sweating girl and her unnecessarily obvious actions, focusing her attention on her daughter. Landon Bridges: While Landon was paying for a very flirtatious woman's breakfast and introducing himself, he noticed that there was a young, very attractive woman with a baby who scoffed at him, or maybe it was her. Hell for all he knew it could have been at them. He was just being nice, and he was an incorrigible flirt, he had to admit. But he wasn't aware there was a crime being committed by just being nice to a woman his first day in a new place. He looked over at her, and he dropped her a wink. Cayden Hughes: Cayden caught the wink out of the corner of her eye and she scrunched her eyebrows, her head whipping away from his gaze to place a soft kiss on her daughter's head. It wasn't that they were out of line because they weren't even close to crossing the line, but Cayden was jaded and had wanted to come here to relax, not have the fact that the last time she'd had sex or even somebody flirt with her was when she'd gotten pregnant. Not a good memory. Chancing a glance at the newly acquainted couple, she rolled her eyes at the girl slipping money under her strap. They made carriers for that kind of thing. Landon Bridges: Landon had to admit that it was kind of a stripper move in his mind to carry cash in your bra like that, but hey he was here on kind of a vacation of sorts, so who was he to judge. Besides, he liked strippers. What guy didn't right? Still, his eyes kept darting over to her, even while he talked and flirted with the girl who introduced herself as Trista. Interesting name. But then, he wasn't one to judge on names either, his parents having had a bit of sense of humor for their middle child. He caught the eye roll, and just smiled at her, as he turned his attention back to the incurable flirt in front of him. Cayden Hughes: Standing with a scrape of her chair against the floor, she grabbed her cup from the table and settled Grace on her hips so she could angrily stalk to the trash can and throw it away. She couldn't believe that he'd just smiled at her. Here he was, buying breakfast for a scantily clad runwhore and his eyes kept meeting hers. This is why she wasn't in a relationship and didn't ever plan on being in one. Men were pigs. Landon Bridges: If looks could kill he'd have been struck down right then and there. What the hell was she so mad about? He was just trying to be friendly. And she stalked out like he'd flipped her the bird or something. Well, whatever, it was her loss. He would like to have some friends here, but it looked like this girl Trista was his only bet so far. Some chick named Nikki was being a total bitch to him online, and now this woman? Was it something in the water? Cayden Hughes: Once she stepped outside, she adjusted Grace in her arms, her now sleeping form resting easily on Cayden's shoulder. Dressed for spring in a pair of blue jeans and a simple tshirt, she hoped the day would be bright and cheerful so she could clear her head from all of this. Halfway to walking to the park, Cayden gasped, her hand immediately moving to rub circles on her daughters back. She'd left the shop in such a huff, she'd forgotten Graces favorite pacifier and the diaper bag. How could she forget the diaper bag? Sighing heavily, she knew the only thing she could do now was go back and hope the place was clear. Landon Bridges: Landon saw that she'd left a few things on her table, and figured she'd probably be needing a few of those things in the not too distant future. So, excusing himself for a moment with Trista to wait on their order, he jogged to the table she'd been sitting at, grabbed the pacifier and the diaper bag and ran out of the deli to meet up with the young mother. "Hey," he called after her. "You left these in the shop..." he said as he came to a skidding halt in front of her. Cayden Hughes: That was unexpected. Doing the first thing that came to her mind, she swatted him on the shoulder, "Sleeping baby!" she hissed, pointing to the steadily breathing Grace. "Jesus." Taking the bink from his hand, her fingers brushing over his. Tucking the very important plastic thing into her pocket she made a grab for the diaper bag. Landon Bridges: He flinched a little as she smacked him on the shoulder and jumped back, totally over exaggerating. "Hey hey," he said lowering his voice as he handed her the binky and bag. "I was just trying to be helpful..." he added. "It's incredible. Is there some kind of special chemical in the water here that turns women in to scowling bitches or something?" he asked as he turned away, not even waiting for the young woman to attempt a thank you. He was so far unimpressed with the townspeople here. Cayden Hughes: "Wait," she called, immediately regretting it when Grace began her snuffling and rubbing of her head against Cayden's shoulder. Hurrying up to him, she placed a hand on his shoulder, not believing she was about to do what she was about to do. "Just once second, okay?" Pulling the bink from her jeans, Cayden juggled the baby and the diaper bag before just dropping the bag to the ground altogether before cradling Gracie in her arm and popping the bink in hoping that would give her a tiny reprieve. "I'm not a great mom," she confessed, looking up at him. "But I'm not a scowling bitch either, ass. So thank you." Landon Bridges: Landon stopped when she called for him and turned when her hand was pressed onto his shoulder. An almost electric shock ran through him, similar to the one he'd gotten when her hand had brushed his as he'd handed over the pacifier. He watched her, crossing his arms, wondering if she was actually going to apologize or bitch him out. When she spoke he was thinking she was going to apologize. He was wrong again. "Yeah, I'm the ass. Thanks for nothing lady," he said as he gave her a cocky smile and turned his back on her and headed back to his breakfast.
