Who: Todd & Liam
What: Coffee
When: Backdated to Monday, 4/20, following this
Where: The Lakeside Cafe
Todd had a lot of mixed feelings where his family was concerned. He had the most issues with his parents, who had essentially foisted him off on his grandparents from the time he was in high school, and had all but disowned him when he came out in college. But he was also pretty hurt by the actions of his brother, Liam, who was not just the family favorite, but the poster child for heterosexuality. With his wife and two kids, Liam had always represented exactly what their parents wanted in a son. Todd, on the other hand, represented things they'd rather forget, things they'd rather not talk about.
The idea of sitting down and having coffee with his estranged brother made Todd feel kind of uneasy, but he knew the right thing to do was to give him a chance. He wasn't in a good place in his life right now, and he wasn't in a position to be dismissing blood relatives, especially not when his brother had obviously lost a lot of things he valued as well. So on Monday, after finishing his desk shift at the station, he walked around the corner to the cafe, sat at a table and waited to see if Liam would really show.
