Who: Todd & Marc What: On patrol Where: In a police car When: Wednesday night, around 8pm
Some nights, being a police officer was exciting work, especially in a small town. People did all kinds of strange things after dark, and Todd had been involved in arrests for everything from drugs to public lewdness to stealing lawn gnomes to throwing shoes into the lake. Tonight, though, was a slow night. It was cold, and there was a threat of some wintry weather in the air, and even the usual troublemakers seemed to be off somewhere drinking cocoa and trying to get warm. This was a good thing, he supposed, for the town and the lake in general, but not really a great thing for the two men in this car who were on duty and in need of something to do.
"I can't believe how quiet it is," Todd said to Marc. "Either there's a secret riot going on somewhere and we're idiots, or this is the most boring night in the history of boredom."
