Elyse couldn’t help but continue smirking as she saw his reaction to her comments. Hopefully, she hadn’t made him feel too uncomfortable. Sometimes she found she was better at that than she should have been. Had they known each other better, that conversation probably would have resulted in her shamelessly teasing him if he had felt uncomfortable, but given the circumstances, she would contain herself rather than prevent herself from actually making some form of a friend around here. On the same note, in her own head she was shamelessly teasing herself for what was probably a lack in social skills.
Elyse’s head tilted to the side as her lips spread into a wide smile, “I don’t usually drink this early, but god you read my mind.” If there was ever a time to drink, it would be at this moment. Her first social gathering at her new home in the wonderful state of New Hampshire had been… a funeral. That definitely constituted some form of alcohol. Her smile than changed into a softer one, one more genuine, “Thanks…” It had been more of a help than he knew for someone to not talk too much about Gram, to treat her not like an estranged family member. She didn’t feel on display for the first time since it started.
