Leigh nodded with a smile and quickly scooted into the kitchen to grab their drinks. She refilled her blue cup with the soft drink, chunking a few fresh cubes of ice in the dark beverage, and grabbed a fresh bottle of water from the fridge for Kip. Shutting the door of the fridge with her foot, she returned to the living room, taking a sip from her cup as she rounded the coffee table and sat down on the couch. Although the house wasn't messy by any means, Leigh still found herself apologizing for it as she handed Kip his drink. Her mother would have had a fit had she seen the clutter of papers, books, and magazines upon the coffee table, but oh well. She wasn't in any hurry and would straighten things up later.
Leaning forward, she pushed the stack of papers up a bit and sat her cup down on the coffee table on top of a coaster before sliding back on the couch. She turned to face Kip, her back against the arm rest with her legs folded Indian style in front of her, forearms resting lazily against her thighs. "You can sit back, if you want," she said once she noticed how he was sitting on the edge, "the couch won't bite." She gave a little laugh and shrugged. It was ultimately his decision, but she wanted him to feel as comfortable as possible. Kip was always welcome in Leigh's house, no matter what, she only hoped he knew that.
