Winifred pointed at Todd abruptly when he said that he was getting old. "Hey, easy with the old talk, Toddy. I'm not very much younger than you, and that means you're calling me old too. I'm most decidedly not old, and never will be, I'll have you know." she said in a mock haughty tone before giving him an amused glance and letting him continue.
Winifred laughed when he questioned her semi-sabbatical and shook her head, but let the question pass and let him continue before she answered. Wasn't it always a boy? For both of the, actually. Wasn't it always some form of male interference that made things crazy and chaotic. Winifred sighed and shook her head. As bad of news as it probably was that she was about to hear this was nice... like old times. The two of them curled up in the living room talking about boys, chaos, and well they hadn't really touched on the subject of sex and there were no hot schnopplates involved just yet, but both of those things could possibly be rectified later and so it was just like old times in Winifred's mind.
"It's not really a sabbatical at all. I put in for one and he said that I could as long as I still sent in material, which is fine. I means I still get paid, after all, and it also means I get to avoid pesky meetings. It also might mean he'll get so used to me being away that I'll never have to go into the office again so cross your fingers, and when you're finished crossing them tell me all about this boy you mentioned. I'd also like a heads up on whether or not I should be prepared to get violently angry and throw a large tantrum, because I'll have to gather the energy for that. Sigh. I have a difficult life, you know."
