"I'll try not to," Teresa called out, laughing as Samantha went to the back of the store. She had felt a surge of excitement rush through her when the other woman touched her arm. It was the same thrill she had experienced more than thirty years ago when she had fallen in love with a woman for the first time. The anticipation of seeing her again, the eagerness to be in her good graces, and the intense feelings of self-doubt when it came to opening her mouth, walking around the store, or contemplating her own intelligence. Teresa felt like a third-rate stalker standing there waiting without a clue as to what to do next.
She self-consciously rested her own fingers on the spot where Samantha's had recently been. Shaking her head, Teresa silently berated herself for developing a secret crush on the bookstore manager. She was relieved, to say the least, that Samantha had disappeared for the time being. It gave her a minute to compose her thoughts and regain some self-control.
