Born like this
Who: Amsden and Vikram
Where: Brighton
When: Late afternoon
There was something that Kenley'd always done when he got bored, anxious or tired. And that something happened to grate on Amsden's nerves like nothing else. He didn't know where he'd picked it up but he wished by the Keeper that he'd lose it somewhere else. That thing happened to be humming under his breath, whistling, or even singing. There wasn't anything wrong with the tunes that he chose, either, they were just meaningless things picked up from taverns or other travelers, but they grew annoying after the first two and Amsden was left wishing that he knew a spell to cause someone to go mute that didn't involve removing the tongue or permanently leaving them unable to speak. He liked Kenley. He just didn't like the things that Kenley did when he was bored. But he was a teenager and he knew that Amsden got annoyed over those things; which was very likely why he did them, so saying that he wished he would stop yet again was only going to make him want to keep going and see how long he could press his luck before Amsden finally snapped and decided that he didn't care, he was going to strangle him and be down a ward.
"This is not my favorite castle," Kenley informed Amsden as they went up the road that led to said castle. "Nor are they my favorite people."
Amsden shrugged. "Vikram is a very good contact to have and better to stop and see him then let him hear that we were in the area and did not. Some people should not be offended." Crazy people. Amsden was a Bringer of Death, a worshiper of the Keeper, and he knew how dangerous the truly mad were. Vikram Médrano was truly mad. Priya could spend the day resting or asking questions of those in the area, along with the other Bringers, but Amsden was going to see Vikram and see how he was doing. The man was mad, that was true, and a sorcerer who had been changed into such and never trained on top of it, but Amsden got along with him despite that. "If you did not wish to say hello then you could have always stayed in Brighton with Priya and the others."
Kenley rolled his eyes and made a snorting sound. "No thank you." Then he fell silent as a guard asked their names and business. Amsden gave them and turned his attention to a nearby tree. It was hard to believe sometimes that he'd been raised in Mag Mell, but whenever he was back in the Kingdom he always remembered what it'd been like during his childhood. It wasn't his favorite of the Realm's locations, but there were some memories attached. And it turned out quite a few noteworthy Minions. Himself, Vikram, Liona, her cousin Pryce... the list could go on.
