Had Cat been able to hear what Karanteg was thinking then she would have laughed, not cruelly but not kindly either. She was many things, especially towards her newest husband, but she had never been cruel when it came to the children. There had been no love lost between her and her first husband, but the children had fond memories of him for a reason, memories that she wouldn't see tarnished no matter how much they hurt her. Cat didn't believe in poisoning a child against their parent. Her own mother hadn't needed to do it with her and Eilidh, and she'd have been more than able to, and Cat took after her mother in that. No matter how much she disliked Karanteg, she wouldn't turn any children that were his against him. She had not even tried to turn her own children against him.
Late Lord Grimm. The only title to befit him. Cat supposed it was a small blessing of some sort that at least her sister hadn't insisted that she marry his brother. She might have really thrown herself off the highest tower she could find if that had happened. "Yes, he will be the next Lord Grimm when he is of age and he would like to be suited for it." The Grimm men were far too well known for their eagerness to slay any druid they came across, with or without cause. Cat couldn't seem to steer Kelvin away from that idea no matter how hard she tried. Creator knew she had. Taking a deep breath as she heard their names being announced, Cat straightened her back and pulled on her best smile. "And so it begins."
