Who: Daphisio and Daemyn
Where: Daemyn's room
When: Morning

The sun was too bright. The birds were too noisy. The servants were too noisy. This side of his pillow was too warm and the other side grew warm too quickly when he turned it over. His blankets were suffocating. His room was freezing. His room spun. The bucket one of the servants had been mindful enough to leave him smelled, and the wind that blew in from outside was too chill, too fragrant with the smells of the gardens, though he supposed it better than the stench of the city.

All in all, Daemyn thought that today was a day he would much rather spend entirely in his bed, not moving unless it was to heave or to take a drink of water from the mercifully cool pitcher beside his bed. This, he decided, was why one never saw Janna before lunch, if then. He'd always assumed he just missed her because she never came to the training yards and he never went to wherever it was she spent her mornings. Now, body rebelling against having drank with her the previous night, he realized that her mornings were actually everyone else's afternoons. She should come with a warning label, that woman, stomach of a dragon and tolerance of a fish.

There was a knock at his door. "No," Daemyn managed to groan. "No to everything."

"Ah, so this is Janna's fault," Daphisio said with a chuckle. "I see. If I had left Janna at home, you would have behaved yourself. You are brainless if you truly believe that." And sometimes he was quite convinced that Daemyn was without a sound mind. He showed flashes of intelligence and ambition, but not enough. Not quite enough.

Turning away from the window, Daphisio faced Daemyn, a tight smile still on his lips. "Little Amadeo has been spending quite a bit of time with the Princess. I am surprised you haven't heard, as I am not the only one who has seen them together. I could not say if they have, ah, snuck behind the stables yet, but I cannot keep an eye on Amadeo every minute of the day. But between the tourney, and Princess Heloise, he is making quite a name for himself in the days we have been here. As are you, of course, but for different reason." He glanced with mild disgust at the bucket beside Daemyn's bed.
