When the woman spoke back, which Gia wasn't entirely certain she had expected, she blinked a little in surprise. This was much better than anticipated and she felt a half-smile tugging up the corner of her mouth as she studied the woman who had turned towards her. She was continuing her line of thought! As though it were a completely normal conversation for one to have, and it was all Gia could do not to clap her hands in delight. She didn't often find someone who humored her, and even more rarely yet, someone who added to the conversation in a way that was actually considered helpful. Gia's hand went out to her project, drawing an idle line in the black sand, when attention was called to it.
"My mind envisages a small garden in perfect detail, where the roses look real, and not as pieces of cloth sewn together. However, that small of detail is actually beyond me, and I did not think that possible." Her rose bushes looked like something that belonged in a child's dollhouse, not a gift meant to adorn the top of a table or wardrobe for a full-grown woman to smile fondly at. Gia could already see Eileen's husband snorting at it and asking if one of the children had made it, no matter how untrue that would be. To anyone but Gia, it likely looked wonderful, but to her it looked clunky. Sighing, Gia brushed the bits of sand off her fingers and turned so that she could look at Daphina straight-on for the first time.
"That color is perfect for you," were the first words out of her mouth. Like the night before when she had complimented Rune's sister instead of Rune himself, she didn't bother to take them back. They were true and she likely knew it. "Were the Watchers kind enough to see you birthed into a House with red as its color so that you can wear it all the time without drawing note?" Gia had often wondered how much more she might enjoy her own wardrobe if she had family colors she truly enjoyed. Light greens and blues preferably, and while she could claim light green for Ridell, purple was the color most thought of first. "Daphina... Taraias, I believe? You have the look of them." Gia had met the elder sister, Janna, at court, and anytime after when she saw one of them she always saw the similarities in the hair and the eyes. Her smile remained as she added, "It suits you. I am Gia."
