It just isn't right to take a gunner's gun away! It just isn't fair! And honestly if it wasn't for the extra hand-to-hand lessons with Hector, Val probably would've said Fuck It and brought the gun anyway (To THREATEN with, she'd insist, not to USE) -- but she didn't. No, instead she stuck to her guns (er... not-guns?) and went in just with her attitude and the determination to get a fucking paycheck.
At first she tried to put on the charm and convince the migrants to let it go. And then when that didn't work she started kicking and punching. She was doing pretty well too, until she copped one on the shoulder that left a fracture and a few bruises -- but, hey, paycheck!
