I woke up to this this morning...twice:

My new pet count is as follows: one dog, two cats and eight otters. At least I think it's only eight. There may be more otters I don't know about. We'll see as the weather gets warmer.

That's pretty cute. Even if it did wake you up this morning.

Well, Sprinkles, just wanted to show off his little ones, I think, and he could only carry one at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if he did this to Khan as well when he was here, honestly. Sprinkles loves attention.

Is Khan one of the otters too?

No. Khan was Sprinkles's owner. My boyfriend as well, when he was here. He was taken back by the Seal in February.

Oh. Sorry, I didn't know.

It's all right. There aren't many people left here who did. He wasn't exactly a sociable type.

The otters are really cute though. Are they as friendly as they look?

They are. They've gotten used to humans so they're really quite friendly.

Eight otters? Wow, that is a lot. But they're also adorable too.

The four little ones that Sprinkles and his mate had last spring aren't around as much, but I still see them near the cabin. From what I've read next year they may move somewhere else to find mates, so I'll be back down to four, unless there's more in this litter.

Oh wow. I'd bet they need a lot of feeding too. Otters are definitely one animal I can admit I rarely saw before. Might have been a bit amusing to have had one in school though.

Even though Sprinkles is somewhat domesticated, he's still excellent at getting his own food, for the most part. But the brood does eat a lot, I think. And they do love their treats.

I guess for some animals, they still have their nature instincts even after domestication. Might it be alright if I looked at one of them in person sometime? I mean, if they wouldn't bite or run away or anything like that. I'm usually comfortable around most animal types though.

That would be fine. I don't know if the littlest ones are going to be somewhere where we can see them, but I know the other children of Sprinkles and his mate are around and they're only about a year old.

Awesome. Just let me know the address and I'd be over. I could probably come over around noon tomorrow, if that's a good time? It's my day off at the bakery then.

Noon is fine. I'm sure the older ones will be more active by then. The cabin's a bit harder to find, since it's a cabin over by the river. But I can give you directions, which might make it easier?

Alright, I'll be over there around that time. Directions would probably be good and helpful for finding my way to it more easily.

Thank you, so much. Those really help a lot.

Sure. I should be good, but I'll call if I need help when getting there tomorrow.

That's a cute picture. I can't imagine having that many pets, all I ever had were a couple dogs. And a raven for a few months but it eventually flew away after a while. Though cats, they never like me much when I walk too close

At home all I had was one cat, Toby. I seem to have settled into having more while I've been here, though I hadn't exactly expected the otters. I couldn't leave them to fend on their own, though.

I guess this is a place where we aren't too busy to take more pets in. I think back home, we have busy lives, and jobs which leave us less time. Though I'd often considered this world like a second home for me as others have probably felt too.

That is quite true. Even with my post here I seem to have more free time. And despite losing so many people, I consider this a home. I think if I go back I may miss it in my heart, even if I don't remember being here.

I admit it does get a bit insane here, but it's a better place for some. I felt like I missed all this when I had left before too. Of course I'd soon forgotten it fully, but there was always a feeling of deja vu I couldn't quite understand.. usually whenever I'd watch a Trek or Star Wars program, or hear someone mention Kansas.

It's a long story, but I inherited the otter and his family that belonged to my boyfriend when he was here.

So far. Apparently they have two to four at a time, so if I run across a few more I won't be surprised.
