So, here it is. In all my life I have neer had to ask for dating advice. But how do you do Valentine's with the girl who's only just letting you back into her trust after you betrayed her, kidnapped her, killed a whole bunch of coworkers and nearly drowned two of her closest friends? Oh and then couldn't stop from being kidnapped by your insane mentor.

Cause I figure dinner and a movie won't cut it.

And I thought Hal was a mess

Well, chocolate and flowers certainly aren't going to do it.

What does she like? That's the thing. You can't just go all generic when you're trying to make up for something that big. Think about what she likes and come up with something special that fits that. And...you know...remember that one Valentine's day isn't going to make up for all that. You're probably going to have to work at it for a while.

I have no intention of being generic with her, but she deserves amazing. She deserves perfect.

I think I'll be making it up to her for years to come

Just keep in mind that amazing and perfect might mean something different for her than it would for other people.

As long as you're willing to do that...that's the important thing. And she can forgive you. I mean, the bloke I used to like got me killed. And we got past it.

I'm willing to do that. So I'm hoping its enough.

I just want her to be happy

She's fairly easy going with this kind of thing.

But, yeah. Do something she'd like.

Oh, I remember that point, buddy. And look where I am.

Pretty sure she does. Might take her a while to admit it, because of everything. Because her friends will judge her. Because you hurt her. But, she'll get there.

I'd avoid making it a surprise, you want to do something stable and normal but not small. Talk to her, id suggest a weekend mini break spa or something nice and relaxing intimate where you are away from distractions.

Most important get her input, she won't appreciate secrets at the moment, then throw in the little thoughtful extras, aim to make her feel special but refrain from over the top.

That said you know your girl better than me, trust yourself and talk with her.

I'm not sure why surprise is a bad thing. But I'll talk to her this time. There's a diffrence between the secrets I had and doing something nice for her.

If you want to go with the mystery, then tell her you have a surprise you don't need to tell her where but do tell you want it to be a surprise. THat way if she picks up on any secrecy she knows it is just romantic.

Is about building the trust rather then being overly romantic, I appreciate the difference and so will she after the fact but before the surprise is sprung the secrecy might alarm her and put her on guard.

Well, just don't try to bring her adoptive mother who is dead in your universe in from another universe because it'll probably accidentally be a world devouring parasite-mom that nearly brings about life as we all know it and can only be stopped by the power of gay love.

That's really my only advice.

Well, since the closest to an apoptive mother she has is the bitch that fractured my larynx and nailed my damn foot to the floor. I think she's the last person I'd try to bring here.

Not to mention last I looked I can't make portals to pull people through.

I haven't been able to do it here -- or, I mean, like. I haven't tried. Because parasite monster-mom is not something I want to recreate.

I can make tiny pocket dimensions though, so if you wanted a romantic get away without leaving the... horrible frozen hell hole that is Kansas, I can hook you up.
