No Evil
How long is too long, between hunts? Like, what's the point where we should take another run with the classes before heading out on another hunt?

So, just fyi, me and Perry moved into a bigger apartment. We're still at Greaves House, but Apt. 308 now. I can't remember if I mentioned it to everyone yet.

And James, we're done getting everything, I think, so you can have your cleaning guys come. But, I'm having some trouble getting Nix adjusted to the new apartment. He keeps flying back to the old place still, when I let him out.

They're pretty nice digs.

You really like it? My friend Epiphany set the place up, back in the day. That was way before I even got here. But James and me finished up the remodeling thing on the third building after she and her boyfriend both left.

Yeah, I do like it. It's got a kind of... urban rustic quality to it.

I know it's no L.A., but there's worse places. And there's a lot of really good people around too.

Are you going to try and set up Sentron again?

Well, maybe this place'll be a little less chewed up and spit-out the way L.A. feels half the time.

Thinking about it, what do you think?

That kinda depends on your definition of chewed up and spit out.

I think we should. I mean, people get stuck here for a long time, sometimes. It's easier if you find ways to keep busy.

And is there a market for the services we can offer?

Maybe. I mean, like I said, it's no Los Angeles. Not so much with the rich bored housewives and all that.

If you're asking that you should probably do a refresher.

It's only been a few months, really. Me and Sherlock went in the spring sometime. But, yeah, better safe than sorry, and all.

I think everyone should do refreshers every few months, but that might just be me.

Probably a good idea. Make sure everyone's on the top of their game.

Should there be like a test or a license or something for this, you think? Take the classes, pass the test, get your license, then you can hunt?

I doubt it needs to be that intense.

I don't know, just, how do you make sure? That people aren't just going screw the classes and going off on hunts anyways?

We can't really stop people who make idiotic choices, Harry. Even with all of that you're suggesting people can still find their own hunts.

[info]bad_narrator

But we're supposed to look out for each other here. Right? Because if we didn't, we'd never have made it this far. I mean, I'm not saying you're wrong, but... we still want people to be safe about it.

Of course, but we're hardly the only ones doing hunts here so do we have all hunters operate like you're suggesting?

I'm just not sure how it'd be enforceable or even how it would be handled. Who documents that people have attended and taken the test? Who creates the test?

It's a good thing you told us. Otherwise I might leave food outside the wrong apartment and you'd wonder why I had forgotten about you.

I'll have them come in tomorrow, then. And we can always keep that apartment free for a while until he stops. I'd rather do that than have someone accidentally hurt him.

Question for you. Would it be all right if I get a second dog? The trainer I've been working with said if I get an older dog for Chekhov to interact with a lot of his behavioral problems might decrease. I mean, he left me with two pairs of shoes last week out of six. And that's not mentioning what he did to the bedroom door. Which I have fixed, by the way.

Okay! And yeah, that'd probably be a good idea. Thanks, man.

Um. Yeah, sure, I guess that's okay. I mean, I'm not so much of a dog person, myself, but I'm cool with other people having them.

Then when the cleaners come in I'll tell them to work around any bats that may inhabit the apartment.

Cool. I wasn't really a dog person until I got here. I think Chekhov is rebelling against the last few long absences I've had. Having another dog should help. And I feel better because the other dog I'm looking at is a mutt that's going to get put down if it isn't adopted soon.

Nah, it's cool, I'll just make sure he stays inside until they're done with it.

Oh, then seriously, by all means, get the dog. Poor thing. I used to be more of a dog person, but... there was a thing. Involving a dog. Not so much anymore now.

Works for me.

I'll go get him tomorrow, then. I'm thinking of naming it Scotty. Or possibly McCoy. Haven't decided yet.

Jesus. Between you, me, and Sherlock, half the town's pets are going to be named after people on the other end of the Seal. It's going to be really awkward if it brings them all here.

I think my Chekhov would be amused. McCoy not so much so I think it will be named Scotty, since he'd pretend to be affronted but would secretly be pleased. But if any of my friends showed up I'd be jazzed.

Yeah, but what if they don't want to be here though? I mean, I get it, I do. I really miss Harmony and my mom, my brother Nick and my niece Chloe, and I'd give just about anything to be with them again. But this place... it's like, oh, screw whatever life you had, build a new one here, but wait, you might get tossed back or lose everyone you love or some demon or monster will try and kill you, and I just, I don't want them getting caught up in the apocalypse mark 2 or whatever this is. I know Lawrence has it's perks, and there's a lot of great people here that I don't want to lose either, but it's still dangerous.

I really do get it, I just... don't think I can agree.

No, that's a good point. I can see where you're coming from. I think part of the reason I like being here is the years from about 1980 to maybe 2020 absolutely fascinated me. I mean, part of me had thought I was born in the wrong era. Getting to live in this time, even with all the crap that could happen, is pretty damn cool for me. But I could see where it wouldn't be for my friends.
