Greetings fair strangers

I will be brief, as I can clearly see that the custom of this land runs to short tales only. Having recently arrived in this country, and having secured the necessities of life in the form of food and lodging, I have turned to this strange device to ascertain the nature of the land in which I find myself.

Of your courtesy, I have two questions to put to you. The first, if I may be so bold: am I correct in thinking that my own situation is not unique in this land? That you are accustomed to visitors drawn here by fate?

The second is this: having read of the dangers that attend you in this place, and having in myself some skill with a bow, I would know if there is some way to procure such a thing, for truly, it is well to be prepared.

I await your replies with hope and trepidation.

Susan, by the grace of Aslan,

Well, don't we all look like peasants now!
Oh, hi?

To answer your question, no, you're definitely not unique. I mean, you're probably unique, not quite like anyone else, but that's more a personal thing and not a situational thing. It's sort of a thing. An Apocalyptic thing. You sound like you're from a different world, probably, or at least a different time. Do you know of the Christian Bible at all?

My childhood was spent in a land much like this, but it has been long and indeed very long since last I saw such things. And I fear it was not entirely the same, so this must be a third world yet. It is strange, but I must trust that everything occurs for a reason.

The Bible? I do recall... I fear my memory of my childhood is hazy. Do you speak of a holy book?

You sound like
I can't help but think

It could be. There are lots of different worlds apparently, these things just kinda happen. Or it could be your world in a different time. I mean, it's probably still a different world, I feel like most of us came from different ones, but same planet, similar world, different times.

Yeah, it's considered a holy book. The final book of it, Revelations, talks of an Apocalypse. Lucifer, Satan, the Devil, whichever you prefer. He's kind of a jerk and the reason you have to filter against evil. He wants to use his demon race to wipe out the whole of humanity. Which is stupid, I know, but there you have it. And you, along with most of the people you'll meet here, were brought here to attempt to fight that final battle against him and, hopefully, win.

So...wow, that was long, sorry! Hi, I'm Josh Levison, nice to meet you, Susan.

I was born in London, and the planet was called Earth. But I had never heard of a country called Kansas, nor of devices such as this, nor of much that I have seen. I am somewhere new and strange.

It is odd that I would be brought here, as I am no warrior. I have the heart to defend myself, that is all.

I am pleased to make your acquaintance. Would I call you Josh?

Kansas is a state in the United States. Not its own country. And these devices may be a bit futuristic for you. You'll pick them up quickly enough.

Oh, I have the feeling Neither am I, believe me. Neither are a lot of people here. Apparently the Seal thing decided you'd be good somewhere. Maybe not as a physical fighter, maybe somewhere else. We'll see, I guess?

Yeah, that'd be best.

It seems there are a number of us here who have no idea how we got here, or why we were brought here. Or how to get back, but that's--

I'm not sure about the bow question.

Have you not discovered your purpose and the shape of your destiny in this land?

I must admit, it does not seem to be a land in need of rescue.

You would be correct in that belief, yes. There are many who have been brought here from different times and lands. Most of those who are native to this place are unaware of what is going on, though there are also those well in the know.

As for acquiring a bow and arrow, I know there are those here who are more familiar with that. It is not impossible to do so, though.

Indeed, I tried to hint of my situation to those from whom I obtained food and clothing, but my hints went unheeded. Undoubtedly, these were those who do not know of the travelers in their midst. I am truly glad I discovered this device, and gladder still to know that this is not an adventure that must be chanced alone.

I have the currency of this land in sufficient quantities for most things, I must believe.

This post may be of help to you, then. Also, there is a complex with free lodging for those who are displaced here.

Robin or Marian would be a good place to start in terms of finding yourself a bow, though I know that Clint and Allison both are proficient in archery as well.

I'm Morgana, by the way.

Ah, that is indeed helpful. I shall read it again and again, for it is clear this is far more complicated than arriving in Narnia.

I believe that is Robin below?

I am pleased to make your acquaintance, Morgana. You may call me Susan. I can no longer claim the names to which I was entitled to in the land I came from, but I must admit it's odd to be just Susan again.

You must be the absolute most resourceful person on the planet to manage all of that before even speaking to anyone that actually knows the reality of the situation.

Either that or you're a very good thief.

Come on...honesty is the best policy, afterall. Fess up. You're a conartist, aren't you?

Indeed I am not. I simply arrived dressed for court with all my court jewels, and was able to find a pawn shop. And once I had currency, then everything became possible. It's quite simple, really.

I don't know what mother would say about my behaviour, it makes me think of her more than I have in years, being here and trying to work out what I should do and what I shouldn't do...but one can't always shelter with a friendly family of beavers when arriving in a new land.

That is most gracious of you, sir. What would you desire in return?

Classes... A school of archery? Indeed, I would like to see such a thing.

Robin. Much like an archer I heard tales about in my youth. It is a most generous gift.

I would be honoured to attend. Would I find this class at the complex I've heard about?

It's a pleasure to meet you, Susan. My name is Marian and my husband would be that rather crafty person offering you a bow. If you need any help getting acquainted, please don't hesitate to ask. This wasn't a world I was familiar with at all, either.

You are married! Of course, with so many sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, I am most pleased to make your acquaintance, Marian. You are an archer as well as your husband?

The strange thing is that some of it is familiar, and some of it is...far beyond anything that I have ever imagined. And even the familiar is strange. I have been so long away, in a land where everything is different.

I am, though my skill doesn't even begin to compare to his. Robin's a bit of a legend around here.

I come from this land, though about 800 years in its past. I've had a considerable amount of time to adjust and, thanks to a wish provided by magic, I have the knowledge a woman my age would of modern things, and yet now and then it still all takes me by surprise. You'll eventually learn to cope. It will simply take time, coming from two worlds as it seems you do.

A generous offer indeed! I am overwhelmed with the kindness shown to a stranger, and indeed I thank you most kindly, but yours is the second offer I have received, and I must not be greedy. One bow will do.

Are you an archer as well, or simply a bowyer?

Well if you ever need arrows or anything let me know. I got plenty.

I started off an archer and learning how to craft bows became a way to focus myself after missions and such. It's very calming for me. I'm sure there's a few practice ranges in town but there's also one next to where I live that I practice at. [Location]

I will indeed do so.

You have luck with you that you were able to find something so well suited to your needs. I have often wished I had more time to learn such a craft, but my duties never permitted, nor could I grudge the time spent, except only in passing.

You speak of missions, are you in the service of some great lord ... I cannot recall where service is given in this land, but surely, service is indeed given? Pledges to some cause or clan, at the least? I should remember this.
