Entry tags:brynna addams, kendra

WHO: Brynna Addams and Kendra
WHERE: Community Kitchen
WHEN: Early this afternoon.
WHAT: Just random run-ins.
STATUS: Closed/Incomplete
Ratings: TBD, but doubtful that it will be higher than PG-13

Kendra hadn't had much of a chance to get her own food. Kendra hadn't had much of a chance to get a job. Kendra hadn't had much of a chance to do anything, except scout bit by bit of the city during her evening and train during the mornings. Training that was difficult since many of the weapons that she had back where she lived with Mr. Zabuto weren't here. She would have to see Buffy about stocking up on more things. Just because this planet lacked their type of monsters was no reason to be unprepared. To lose practice. Kendra never lost practice and a lack of the proper equipment wasn't enough keep her from making up for it as much as she could.

She had to admit that she was a little bit in love with the gym. Even if it was just to herself. Not that she had anyone else to admit it to. Buffy, maybe? However, Buffy was ten years older than she was if not more. And she had other things to worry about. Despite the strangeness of it finding Buffy the one in charge of things and the fact that she would have denied it, especially in front of the blonde Slayer, Kendra wasn't at all surprised that Buffy was one of the first in commands. She didn't know much about this Andrew as a watcher. In fact, Kendra tried very hard not to think about it. However, Buffy being in charge made sense. After she was always having to go around doing things her way, getting people's faces, and getting them to do what she wanted. She was bossy. Too disobedient to follow orders yet too dedicated to leave people behind. Yes, Kendra did think it was a good thing. Did think Buffy would and was doing a good job. Just because she felt this way didn't mean she would skim on the truth and reality.

It was good that Buffy had come so far. And it didn't leave her feeling sorry for herself because she had died before realizing much of anything. Because Kendra didn't do feeling sorry for oneself. Nevertheless, it left her with a will to do things better.

She simply hadn't quite figured out how to do that in relation to ... other people.

Brynna was fighting one of her bouts of homesickness and was reminded of something that her mother always said, "Life frequently goes to hell and hte best you can do is survive. And the advantage of being a woman who survives is that you have a perfect excuse to eat chocolate." Many of her mother's words of wisdom seemed to morph into comments about how to get by with eating as much as possible without anyone being able to actually comment about your food consumption. It really was no surprise that her mother's cover business was a deli.

She missed home. Sure, her world was weird and dangerous but it was hers. There were people there who cared about her even when they treated her like she was invisible. Here, she just felt off. She knew that half the people here wanted her to be someone else until that someone materialized in the last couple of days. Everyone else was understandbly caught up in their own survival. It really was no surprise that no one really had time for some random sixteen-year-old-girl from a world they'd never heard of.

By the time she got to the kitchen she was even more depressed and decided that things had gone from chocolate bad to grilled cheese bad. And everyone knew that they only comfort food level worse than grilled cheese was mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes, it was rumored, would bring about the apocolypse.

Kendra was cooking a little bit of rice for herself. Just plain white rice. Though she hadn't decided what else she wanted with it. Typically she tended to know what she wanted on the dot, because after eating, there would be training. Physically or through research and studying. There was no time for idle thought. However, she was trying something new. She was forcing herself to try something new. She had come in wanting chicken with her rice before she convinced herself to make the rice first and then to spontaneously pick something from the fridge. That might not have seen like a big deal for someone else but to her, even if it was just with herself, it mattered greatly. Trying what she wanted. Even if she was still struggling to figure that out.

Kendra heard someone approaching. Looking up she took in the person for a moment before saying, "Hello." Because while she wasn't the most social individual she did have manners. She knew how to be polite and could act on it as well.
