Faith felt so confused. She couldn't think straight and her body was trying to tell her all these things that she didn't recognize or understand. She knew she liked Pike, but a part of her was terrified. If she got too close and then he betrayed her - or worse, something other than a knife in the side happened to him - she'd be devastated. She just couldn't lose someone again, not with the pain of the Mayor's death still so recent.
He didn't ask what happened to Diana, and for that she was grateful. When he leaned in again, she returned the kiss almost desperately. As his thumb began to caress her hand, Faith's grip relaxed along with the rest of her. She moved in closer to him until she was fully pressed against his side, her free hand reaching up to tangle itself in his hair. This was not a familiar gesture for her, but it felt right.
